April 2019 Election Active Member Nominations are closed and have resulted in: Dave Neibert running unopposed for the position of: Active Member Trustee Three-Year Term Expiring April 30, 2022

Mr. Neibert has accepted the position as a member of the Board of Trustees and has agreed to uphold the duties required.

 Dear Active Member:

 In accordance with 40 ILCS 5/4-121 of the Illinois Fire Pension Code, the Calumet City Firefighters’ Pension Board will be conducting an election for one of the Active Member Trustee positions. The Active Member Trustee term currently held by Dave Neibert is expiring. Mr. Neibert desires to continue on the Board, if nominated. This Trustee position is for a three-year term and is a noncompensated position.

 As stated in Section 5/4-122 through 5/4-144 of the Illinois Fire Pension Code - Trustee duties consist of, but are not limited to:

 • Serve on a five-member board comprised of two active members, one retired member and two appointees. 

• Be responsible for administration of the Pension Fund, confirming the annual tax levy, following Department of Insurance regulations, and dispersing benefits according to the Pension Code.

 • Determine and review the investments for the fund.

• Conduct and participate in pension disability hearings.

• Serve a minimum of a three-year term.

 • Be a fiduciary of the Fund.

• Attend Pension Board Meetings which are scheduled quarterly, but special meetings may be called as needed. There are approximately 4-6 meetings a year.

• Complete Trustee Training as follows: 

(1) 32 hour Certified Trustee Training program during your first year as a new Trustee,

(2) Open Meetings Act (OMA) training on the Illinois Attorney General website within 90 days, and

(3) 16 hours of continuing education each year thereafter. Registration fees are covered by the Pension Fund, as well as certain expenses. Time off must be arranged ahead of time with your supervisor.

 Any Active Member of the department is eligible to run for the position of the Active Member Pension Board Trustee.

You may nominate one person for this position, or you may nominate yourself. Please consult with the person you intend to nominate to verify his/her interest in this position before submitting their name for nomination.
